EDX – The Time Is Now (Danny Howard Remix) [Sirup Music – SIR1205_RMX]
Back in April 2020 – almost twenty years to the day since Irish pop duo Moloko released their ubiquitous Platinum-selling single ^The Time Is Now’ – Grammy-nominated Swiss producer EDX became the first electronic artist in history to deliver an official rework of the classic hit record. A euphoric piano house anthem with top line lyrics adapted from Moloko’s iconic year-2000 hit of the same name, EDX continued his unstoppable run of form as he reimagined the almost untouchable original, to deliver yet another infectious vocal cut, primed for summer.
Now almost two months on, and as EDX’s interpretation continues to dominate playlists and airwaves the world over, the critically acclaimed release gets an altogether different spin, this time courtesy of dance music legend and BBC Radio 1 mainstay, Danny Howard.
Due for release on June 12, Danny Howard’s instrumental-led remix sees the Blackpool-based DJ-producer ditch the iconic vocal lead for an impressive, energetic combination of complex drum patterns and old-school synth stabs, as he unveils his playful tech-house rendition, and delivers yet another fitting tribute to Roisin Murphy and Mark Brydon’s iconic original.
